The Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for supporting the safe delivery of the design, construction, testing, commissioning and handover of the Foul Treatment Plant (FTP) and Potable Water Plant (PWP) at Sizewell C Nuclear Power Station.
Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, Construction Managers, Project Managers and Contractor Supervisors, the post holder will assist in implementing proactive safety initiatives, undertaking inspections and audits, monitoring compliance and supporting the development of a positive health and safety culture across all project activities.
The role briefly encompasses the following duties but is not limited to:
- Providing day-to-day health and safety support to project delivery teams and contractors.
- Conducting site inspections, audits and safety tours to monitor compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Supporting risk assessments, RAMS reviews and the implementation of effective control measures.
- Monitoring permit-to-work systems and high-risk construction activities.
- Assisting with accident, incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Supporting contractor management, inductions and mobilisation activities.
- Promoting workforce wellbeing, behavioural safety and positive safety culture initiatives.
- Preparing health and safety reports, KPI data and governance documentation.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:
- Qualifications: NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
- Membership: IOSH Membership (TechIOSH minimum), with progression towards GradIOSH desirable.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years' health and safety experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities, engineering or industrial sectors.
- Technical Skills: Experience conducting site inspections, audits, risk assessments and contractor assurance activities.
- InvestigationSkills: Experience supporting accident and incident investigations and corrective action management.
- Communication: Strong stakeholder engagement, coaching and report-writing skills.
- Driving Licence: Full UK Driving Licence.
- Desirable: Experience within nuclear, energy, water treatment, wastewater or major infrastructure projects.
