The Commercial Manager is responsible for the commercial leadership, governance and financial management of the Foul Treatment Plant (FTP) and Potable Water Plant (PWP) project at Sizewell C Nuclear Power Station from concept design through procurement, construction, commissioning and final handover.
The role will ensure the project is delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, commercial objectives, budgetary controls and programme commitments while protecting the commercial interests of the business and supporting successful project delivery.
The role briefly encompasses the following duties but is not limited to:
- Leading the commercial management of major infrastructure projects from design through to final handover.
- Managing NEC contracts, compensation events, variations and contractual compliance.
- Developing and maintaining project budgets, forecasts and cost plans.
- Monitoring commercial performance and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Managing subcontractor and supplier relationships, including procurement and tender evaluations.
- Leading commercial risk and opportunity management activities.
- Supporting claims avoidance, dispute resolution and commercial governance.
- Producing commercial reports, cashflow forecasts and performance metrics for senior stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:
- Experience: Minimum 10 years' commercial management experience within major infrastructure, utilities, industrial, energy or construction projects.
- Commercial Expertise: Significant NEC contract management experience with strong knowledge of cost control, forecasting and change management.
- Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, Law, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Membership: MRICS, MCICES, MCIOB or equivalent professional membership, or working towards.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage commercial teams, suppliers and key stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills: Strong financial reporting, forecasting and risk management capability.
- Project Experience: Demonstrable experience managing projects valued at £20m+.
- Desirable: Experience within nuclear, water treatment, wastewater treatment or major UK infrastructure programmes.
